8.) Andrew James, Director

Andrew James is the award-winning writer/director of “Una Vida Mejor” and the co-producer and co-director of the popular documentary, “Cleanflix,” which is currently playing at various film festivals across North America. In 2006, Andrew wrote and directed his first feature film, the award-winning “Una Vida Mejor,” a social-awareness drama depicting the lives and struggles of migrant workers in Southern California. The film screened at festivals all over the world and was the recipient of the Special Jury Prize for artistic vision at the 2008 Cinequest Film Festival. It will be available on DVD and video on-demand later this year. In September 2009, Andrew completed “Cleanflix,” a feature-length documentary about the sanitized film movement and the Mormon culture that spawned it. A co-production with Icarus Arts & Entertainment, “Cleanflix” represents years of hard work, sacrifice and collaboration. Last September, “Cleanflix” premiered at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival to enthusiastic, sold-out crowds. Since its premiere, “Cleanflix” has screened at film festivals all over the world, including Michael Moore's invitation-only Traverse City Film Festival and Thom Powers' Stranger Than Fiction film series at the IFC Center in New York City. Andrew is currently in production on “Street Fighting Man,” a gritty, full-length ensemble documentary featuring stories of survival and community action on Detroit's East side.
